Abstract
The phase compressor has phase suppressors (3A, 3B) forming a chain and each containing an adder (4A, 4B etc.) and a following limiter (5A, 5B etc.). The output of a limiter in an earlier stage in the chain is connected to one input of the adder in the next stage. The input signal (1) is applied to the first adder. A reference signal generator (8) supplies the second inputs of the second and subsequent stage adders, whilst the output of the last stage limiter is connected back to the second input of the first stage's adder. A phase detector (6) is coupled to the output of the chain and to the phase-shifted (7) output of the reference generator.
