Abstract

Aromatic amines of formula (I): (where R is 1-4C alkyl; n = 0, 1 or 2) are prepd. by heating (R)n-cyclohexane (II) with anhydrous NH3 at 300-650 degrees C, opt. in the presence of H2O, for a contact time of 0.1 sec. to 10 min, in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) oxide(s) of Al, Cd, Ce, Fe, In, Sn, Th, Ti, Zn or Zr; (B) V2O5 and oxide(s) of Ag, As, Ba, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cu, Eu, Fe, Gd, Hf, In, La, Mg, Mn, Ni, P, Pb, Sb, Sn, Sr, Ti, U or Zn; (C) TiO2 and oxide(s) of Bi, Cr, Cu, Mo, Pb, U or W; (D) ZnO and oxide(s) of Cr, La, Mg, P, Si, Sb, W or Bi-Mo; (E) Al2O3 and oxide(s) of Cu, Eu, La, Mn, Pb or U; (F) Al2O3, MoO3 and oxide(s) of Ca, Cd, Ce, Cu, Er, Fe, In, La, Ni, Pb, Sm, Sr, Ti, U, Y or Zn; (G) Al2O3, WO3 and oxide(s) of Ca, Ce, Cu, Fe, In, La, Pb, Sm, Ti, U or Zn; (H) Al2O3, TiO2 and oxide(s) of Cr, Mg, the rear earths, Re, Te or V; nI) Al2O3, TiO2, ZnO and oxide(s) of Ag, Bi, Ca, Co, Cr, Cu, Hg, La, Mg, Nb, Ni, Pb, Pr, Ru, Sm, Sr, V, Vb or Y; (J) Al2O3, MoO3, Bi2O3 and oxide(s) of Ca, Cu, Pb, ti or Zn; (K) Al2O3, MoO3, ZrO2 and oxide(s) of Ce, Ti or Zn; (L) MoO3 and oxide(s) of Cd, Ce, Cu, Fe, Gd, La, Mg, Mn, Nb, P, Pb, Ti or Zn; (M) ZnO, TiO2 and oxide(s) of Cr, La, Mg or Ng; (N) CdS, CoS, Cds/AliO3, CdS/TiO2/Al2O3, Cr sulphide, ZnSe, ZnS, ZnTe, ZnS/Al2O3, CdS/ZnS/Al2O3 or WS2; or (O) Al2O3, V2O5 and oxide(s) of Ag, Ba, Ca, Cd, Cu, Ga, In, La, Mg, Pb, Sr, Y, Zn or Zr.
