1281112 Catalysts M I MARKINA T A SEMENOVA G P CHERKASOV N I JUSHKINA A S ANOKHINA B I SHTEINBERT L I KOZLOV AD KRUTOV I K MAIOROV and N N AXENOV 6 May 1970 10769/70 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] Catalysts are made by mixing a 35-80 wt. % aq. solution or a melt of a nitrate or acetate of Mg, Al or an element of atomic number 20-31 and 38-84 with oxalic acid or a powdered hydroxide, carbonate or basic carbonate of one of the above metals and calcining the mixture at 300-700‹C. The calcinate may be mixed with binders such as kaolin or cement and lubricants such as graphite and talc. In a typical example an aq. soln. of Al(NO 3 ) 3 , Cr(NO 3 ) 3 and Cu(NO 3 ) 2 is mixed with basic magnesium carbonate and the mixture is calcined at 550‹C, ground mixed with graphite and tabletted. In a similar example Al(OH) 3 is added with the basic carbonate in each case the catalyst consists of Al 2 O 3 , Cr 2 O 3 , CuO, MgO. Other catalysts made in examples are ZnO, Al 2 O 3 , CuO, MgO; Al 2 O 3 , Cr 2 O 3 , CuO, MnO; ZnO, Al 2 O 3 , CuO; and Ni 2 O 3 , Al 2 O 3 , MgO, Fe 2 O 3 : the oxides being present in various proportions.
