Abstract

1,247,594. Ammoxidation catalysts. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 29 June, 1970 [6 Aug., 1969], No. 39337/69. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C2] Catalysts for the production of pyridine from ammonia and 5, 6-dihydro-2H-pyram comprise one or more compounds of metals from Groups IV to VII of the Periodic Table e.g. titanium, chromium, manganese, tungsten, molybdenum, manium and tin with optionally a compound of bismuth, phosphorus, copper, antimony or iron. The preferred compounds are oxides and the catalyst is preferably supported, e.g. on alumina. In the examples the catalysts used are as follows:-(a) V 2 O 5 /Al 2 O 3 , (b) V 2 O 5 /MoO 3 /A1 2 O 3 , (c) V 2 O 5 /SnO 2 /Al 2 O 3 , (d) Bi 2 O 3 /MoO 3 /Al 2 O 3 , (e) Cr 2 O 3 MoO 3 /Al 2 O 3 , (f) U 3 O 8 /Al 2 O 3 , (g) MnO 2 /Al 2 O 3 and (h) WO 3 /Al 2 O 3 .
