Abstract

The invention relates to a power steering assembly for power steering motor vehicles comprising an input shaft (21) for connection to a steering wheel an output shaft (29) which is coupled to the input shaft (21) for operational engagement with a steering rod the coupling between the input shaft (21) and the output shaft (29) permitting a relative rotation therebetween a servo controller which has a rotatable final control element (24) that is in engagement with the output shaft (29) and is driven by the output shaft (29) the steering force assistance being controlled depending on the relative rotation between the input shaft (21) and the final control element (24) the engagement between the output shaft (29) and the final control element (24) providing for a relative displacement therebetween the invention further comprising an actuator for relatively displacing the final control element (24) in relation to the output shaft (29) in order to influence the steering force assistance characteristic a sensor (20 28) for measuring at least one differential angle between the final control element (24) and the output shaft (29) or between the final control element (24) and the input shaft (21) and an evaluation unit for evaluating the measurement values that are provided by the sensor (20 28).
