Abstract

The invention relates to a security feature comprising a luminescent component and a component masking the luminescent component. The invention is based on a security feature having a luminescent component that comprises at least one luminophore composed of a doped host lattice and a component masking the luminescent component. In order to mask the luminescent component relevant features required for an identification of the luminescent component are masked by the masking component in that the relevant features of the luminescent component i.e. the structure of the host lattice of the luminescent component the stoichiometry of the host lattice of the luminescent component the elemental composition of the host lattice of the luminescent component the dopant or dopants of the luminescent components and the luminescence properties of the luminescent component are masked by way of the masking component in at least two particularly preferably in at least three most preferably in at least four of the relevant features in that the masking component is provided with relevant features that correspond with the respective relevant features of the luminescent component. Thus an identification of the luminescent component is made more difficult or is prevented.
