Abstract

The present invention relates to a process and to a device for charging a primary product for pig iron into a smelting unit. Said process and device are characterized in that some of the primary product which has been formed by reducing oxidic iron carriers is stored in the hot state in a reservoir tank before being supplied into the storage device (11) or charging device which is directly connected to the smelting unit. (Figure 1)
