1391081 Benzodiazepines CRC COMPAGNIA DI RICERCA CHIMICA SA 17 March 1972 [17 March 1971] 12567/72 Heading C2C 38-Compounds of the general formula (R<SP>1</SP> = H, halogen, NO 2 ; R<SP>2</SP> = H, C 1-4 alkyl; R<SP>3</SP> = C 1-4 alkyl, benzyl, substituted benzyl) are prepared by cyclizing a compound of the formula (A = protecting group) by removing the protecting group. The above compounds are sedatives and tranquillizers, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier. [GB1391081A]

Benzophenonee of general formula I which have in position 3 an asymetric carbon atom and wherein stands for a hydrogen or a halogen atom or for a nitro group; Eg stands for a hydrogen atom or for a lower alkyl radical with up to 4 carbon atoms and stands for lower alkyl with up to 4 carbon atoms, benzyl and p-hydroxy-benzyl radical and A stands for a protective group selected among H.HC1, H.HBr, tert.butoxycarbonyl (BOC), carbobenzoxy (CBO) and phthalimido. . (+)-2-N-(N·-BOC-alanyl)amino-5-chlorobenzophenones(S) 3. (+)-2-N-(N·-BOC-phenylalanyl)aiiiino-5-chlorobenzophenone( S) 4. (+)-2-N-( ·-BOC-tyrosyl)amino—5-chlorobenzophenone(S) 5· (+)-2-N-(N·-BOC-valyl)amino-5-chlorobenzophenone(S) 6. (+)-2-N-( '-CBO-alanyl)amino-5-chlorobenzophenone(S) 7. A process for the preparation of compounds of general formula I as defined in Claim 1 in which a compound of general formula II in which and It, have the same meaning as in general formula I is reacted with a compound of general formula III wherein and A have the same meaning as in general formula I. 11. A process according to Claim 10, wherein the reaction is performed in an inert solvent. 12. A process for the preparation of compounds of general formula I as defined in Claim 1,substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the Examples. 15. Compounds of general formula I as defined in Claim 1, whenever prepared by the process according to any of claims 10 to 12.
