Claims (8)

What we claim is ;
1. A diaphragm pulser having the intended function of transmitting the alternating motion of a piston within a fluid and comprising an incompressible deformable chamber which is in contact with said fluid and communicates with a deformable pressure reservoir, a liquid-filled piston · chamber associated with said deformable chamber and connected to a compressible fluid reservoir in which the pressure is so adjusted as to balance the static pressure of said fluid, and a device for producing the reciprocating motion of said piston.
2. A pulser according to claim 1, wherein the deformable chamber is limited by two flexible diaphragms located one above the other and by the walls of two grids arranged in oppositely-facing relation within the interior of said chamber, the lower diaphragm being intended to provide a separation between the deformable chamber and the piston-chamber and the peripheral portion of said lower diaphragm being maintained between the opposite faces of the lower grid of the deformable chamber and a grid located within the piston chamber, and the peripheral portion of the upper diaphragm being maintained between the edge of the upper grid of said deformable chamber and a clamping flange .
3. 5. A pulser according to claim 1, wherein the piston divides the piston-chamber into two compartments, one compartment being closed by the lower diaphragm and the other compartment which is closed by an end-plate communicates through slots with an annular chamber which surrounds the piston-chamber and is connected to the reservoir, said ¾
4. A pulser according to claim 1, wherein the device for producing the reciprocating motion of the piston comprises a motor which produces rotational motion of a crank-plate provided with eccentric slots and a crank-arm connected to a piston-rod.
5. A pulser according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the piston is fitted with two calibrated valves which are capable of providing a communication between the two compartments of the piston-chamber and operate in reverse relation to each other in a direction parallel to the axis of the piston.
6. A pulser according to claim 2, wherein the fluid to be pulsed is contained in a chamber which is closed at the lower end by the upper diaphragm and the wall of which has a bottom heel which is applied against the edge of said upper diaphragQj said wall being maintained in position by means of tie-bolts applied against the flange which clamps said upper diaphragm,
7. A pulser according to claim 2, wherein the fluid to be pulsed is contained in a chamber such that the bottom heel of the wall of said chamber is applied against the edge of the upper diaphragm, said wall being connected to the pulser by means of tie-bolts.
8. A diaphragm pulser according to claim 1, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
