Abstract

1447079 Fuel containers; aircraft fuel tanks J VIDILLES 12 Nov 1973 [20 Nov 1972] 52347/73 Headings B7H and B7W In a fuel tank including a leakproof elastomeric reservoir 1 contained within a chamber 3 comprising at least two part shells 2a, 2b, the reservoir 1 collapses to zero volume (Fig. 2, not shown) when empty and the part shells are connected by means capable of giving way under a predetermined impact. The reservoir 1 consists of sheets 1a, 1b of elastomeric material joined by vulcanization at the peripheral zone 2 and is internally coated with a leakproof film. The shells may be joined by a fusible material, a number of spaced clamps or a continuous peripheral clamp: a gasket may be positioned between the part shells before clamping, and the join may or may not be leakproof. Inlet and outlet pipes 5, 6 are attached to the reservoir 1 and flow therethrough is controlled by selfsealing one-way valves (Figs. 3, 7, 9, not shown). [GB1447079A]
