43108/2 What I Claim Is:
1. Blood pressure measuring apparatus comprising a cuff, a inflatable bladder within said cuff, pump means for inflating/ said bladder, a pressure gauge for indicating bladder pressure, and connecting means for connecting in fluid communication said pump means , said bladder and said pressure gauge , said pump means having projecting therefrom an elongated nozzle formed with a/ longitudinal passage therethrough, characterized in that said connecting means comprises a unitary elongated flexible tube directly connected at its ends to said nozzle and said bladder, said connecting means including a restricted opening formed in said nozzle for communication with said longitudinal passage, said pressure gauge being in fluid communication with said longitudinal passage through said restricted opening.
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said pump means, said nozzle projecting therefrom and said pressure gauge are mounted on a casing with said pump means accessible for operation and with said nozzle longitudinal passage in direct fluid communication with said pressure gauge through the intermediary of said restricted opening.
3. Ap aratus according to claim 1 or 2, including bleed valve means in the nozzle upstream of said restricted opening for bleeding fluid from said nozzle at a predetermined rate.
4. Apparatus according to claim 2 or 3, wherein said casing is provided with a tubular extension through which said nozzle extends, said nozzle being formed with a reduced diameter portion defining with the surrounding wall of the tubular extension an annular chamber coaxially related to said longitudinal passage, said restricted opening in said nozzle providing fluid comiriunication between said longitudinal passage and said annular chamber, said pressure gauge being carried in said casing in fluid communication with said annular chamber.
5. Apparatus according, to claim 4, wherein sealing means is provided for sealing said annular chamber from the atmosphere.
6. Apparatus according to any one of claims 2 to 5, wherein said casing is of a size enabling ready support thereof and operation of said pump means with one hand .
7. Apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the cross-sectional area of the restricted ess&$- is approximately 1/64 that of said longitudinal passage.
8. Apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the end of the flexible tube distant from the 'bladder end is provided with a connector for ready connection with and disconnection from the end of the nozzle.
9. Apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein transducer means is provided in said cuff for translating pulse sounds into electrical signals, indicating means for providing an indication when the pulse sounds are detected, an electrical circuit means having an input supplied with said electrical signals from said transducer means and an output for energizing said indicating means as a function of said electrical signals.
10. Apparatus according to claim 9, insofar as the latter depends from claim 4 or 5, wherein said indicating means and said electrical circuit means are respectively mounted on and included within said casing.
11. Apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said 43108/2 during which pressure within the bladder corresponds to the systolic-diastolic blood pressure range of the user.
12. Blood pressure measuring apparatus comprising a cuff, an inflatable bladder within said cuff, pump means for inflating said bladder, a pressure gauge for indicating bladder pressure, a casing having a chamber housing said pressure gauge, an extension adjacent said chamber formed with a tubular bore, connecting means for connecting in fluid communication said pump means, said bladder and said pressure gauge, and a bleed valve means for bleeding fluid from said bladder, characterized by said casing further having an aperture communicating said chamber with said tubular bore, said pressure gauge having an inlet fitting located in said casing aperture for fluid communication solely with said tubular bore, an elongated nozzle extending through said tubular bore and haing a longitudinal passage with one end communicating with said pump means, a length of flexible tube interconnecting said bladder with the other end of said nozzle, a restricted opening formed in said nozzle communicating said longitudinal passage with said pressure gauge inlet fitting through anotherwise sealed transverse chamber which is substantially co-extensive with an intermediate portion of said tubular bore surrounding said nozzle and communicating with said casing aperture.
13. Blood pressure measuring apparatus comprising an elongated non-elastic cuff cover, having a rectangularly shaped hollow inflatable portion and a fastening portion extending therefrom, a rectangularly shaped inflatable bladder within said inflatable hollow portion, cooperative fastening means for said cuff for fastening the cuff when it is applied to a limb of the user preparatory to inflating said bladder, an integral single component, arcuate prestressed resilient clip disposed within said inflatable portion between the bladder therein and an inner surface of an outer wall of the cuff, said clip extending substantially from one transverse edge to the other so as to be substantially coextensive in length with the length of the inflatable portion and having a width extending between longitudinal edges of the inflatable portions, transducer means provided in said inflatable portion between said bladder and an inner facing surface of an outer wall of the cuff for translating pulse sounds into electrical signals indicating means for providing an indication when the pulse sounds are detected, and electrical circuit means having an input supplied with said electrical signals from said transducer means and an output for energizing said indicating means as a function of said electrical signals.
