Abstract
1432577 Indolin-2-ones A H ROBINS CO Inc 16 May 1973 [17 May 1972] 23374/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein the benzoyl group is in the 5- or 7-position of the indoline ring, and R, R<SP>1</SP> are each H or C 1 -C 6 alkyl, or R<SP>1</SP> is C 1 -C 6 alkoxy, halogen, NO 2 or CF 3 . The 5-substituted indolinones are prepared by reacting an indolin-2-one with R<SP>1</SP>C 6 H 4 COCl; the 7- substituted indolinones are prepared by cyclizing a 2-acetamido-3-benzoylphenylacetic acid or an ethyl ester thereof. Therapeutic compositions which are preferably administered orally comprise compounds of the above formula, which prevent the inflammatory response to pleural irritation.

1. 42216-2 AHR-240 What is claimed is: - 1 - Ά 5-(and 7-)benzoylindolin-2-one of the formula: wherein R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and lower-alkyl, and R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, lower- alkyl, halogen and tri luoromethyl . - 2 - The compound of Claim 1 which is 5-benzoylindolin-2-one. - 3 - The compound of Claim 1 which is 7-behzoylindolin-2-one .
