Claims (1)
1. Claims (1) Means for mixing or promoting turbulence in a liquid or in a liquid/solid mixture, said means comprising a gas bubble emitting device formed by an inverted cup having in its upper surface an aperture from which depends a skirt which projects into the interior of the inverted cup, the lower edge of said skirt being disposed above the lower edge of said inverted cup and there being provided means for introducing a pressurised gas into the interior of said inverted cup at a position above the lower edge of said skirt, (2) Means as claimed in Claim 1 in combination with a container intended to hold the liquid or liquid/solid mixture which is to be mixed or in which turbulence is to be promoted, said gas bubble emitting device being mounted within the container. (3) Means as claimed in Claim 1 in combination with a container intended to hold the liquid or liquid/solid mixture which is to be mixed or in which turbulence is to be promoted, said gas bubble emitting device being mounted in a separate chamber which is external to said container and which is connected thereto by conduit means. (U) Means as claimed in Claim 1 wherein there is provided a riser tube which is disposed above said aperture in the gas bubble emitting device and arranged so that gas bubbles emitted by said device will enter into the lower end of said riser tube and pass upwardly through the riser tube and out of the upper end thereof. (5) Means as claimed in Claim k wherein said riser tube is provided with heating means arranged in use to impart heat to liquid or a liquid/solid mixture within the tube. (6) Means as claimed in any one of the preceding Claims wherein said skirt extends upwardly to project above the upper surface of said inverted cup. (?) Mesns as claimed in Claim 6 where dependent upon Claim h or Claim 5 wherein the upper end of said skirt is spaced from the lower end of said riser tube. (8) Means as claimed in Claim 6 where dependent upon Claim k or Claim 5 wherein the upper side of said cup is connected to the lower end of said riser tube, the upper end of said skirt being disposed within said riser tube. (9) Means as claimed in Claim k wherein said riser tube is formed with a flared lower end. (10) Means as claimed in any one of the preceding Claims wherein said inverted cup comprises an upper portion of generally frusto-conical configuration which is integrally connected to a lower portion of cylindrical configuration.
