Claims (1)

1. WHAT WE CLAIM IS: 1. Process for the manufacture of water-soluble condensation products from hydroxymethyl-phosphonium compounds and amides or carbamates, characterised . in that 1 mol of a tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium compound is condensed with 0,02 to 1 mol of an optionally methylolated compound of the formula R - C0NH2 v/herein R denotes alkoxy with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, hydroxy-alkoxy with 2 to 4 carbon atoms, aminocarbonyl or a radical of the formula (H2N - CO - CH2CH2)2 - Z - CH2CH2 - 0 wherein Z represents ^N-, P- or P, at 40 to 120 C, optionally in the presence of formaldehyde or a formaldehyde-donating agent and optionally in the presence of an inert organic solvent, optionally subsequently further condensed at temperatures of 100 to 150°C, and if appropriate free hydroxyl groups are at least partially etherified with at least one alkanol with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, 2. Process according to Claim 1, characterised in that the condensation is carried out at 0 to 110°C, 3. Process according to Claim 1 or 2 , characterised in that the condensation is carried out in 'the presence of at least one inert aromatic hydrocarbon as the solvent,. 4. Process according to Claim 3, characterised in that at least one xylene is used as the solvent. 5. Process according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the two starting materials are condensed with one another in a molar ratio of 1:0,1 to 1:0.'6. 6. Process according to one of Claims 1 to 5, character-ised in that a tetrakis-(hydroxyiriethyl)-phosphonium salt or tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium hydroxide is used. . 7. Process according to Claim 6, characterised in that a tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium salt is used. 8. Process according to Claim 7, characterised in that a tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium halide is used. 9. Process according to Claim 8, characterised in that a tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium chloride is used. 10. Process according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that, as the amide or carbamate, a compound of the formula R1 - C0 H2 is used, wherein R^ denotes alkoxy with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, hydroxyalkoxy with 2 to 4 carbon atoms or aminocarbonyl. 11. Process according to Claim 10, characterised in that, as the amide or carbamate, a compound of the formula R2 - C0 H2 is used, wherein R2 denotes methoxy,. ethoxy, 2-hydroxyethoxy or aminocarbonyl. 12. Process according to one of Claims 1 to 11, characterised in that after completion of- the reaction the salts of the condensation products are converted into the corresponding hydroxides, 13. The condensation products obtainable according to 40242/2 r the process of one of Claims 1 to 12. 14. Process for flameproofing organic fibre materials, characterised in that to these materials is applied an aqueous preparation which contains at least l) a water-soluble condensation product of a hydroxymethyl-phosphonium compound and an amide or carbamate, which is obtained by condensing 1 mol of a tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium compound with 0.02 to 1 mol of ah optionally methylolated compound of the formula R - C0 H2 wherein R denotes alkoxy with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, hydroxyalkoxy with 2 to 4 carbon atoms , aminocarbonyl or a radical of the formula (H2N - CO - CH2CH2)2-Z - CH2CH2 - Q wherein Z represents^-, _ P- or ^ > at .40 to 120°C, optionally in the presence of formaldehyde or a formaldehyde-donating agent and optionally in the presence of an inert organic solvent, optionally subsequently further condensing at temperatures of 100 to 150°C and, if appropriate, etherify ng free hydroxyl groups at least partially with at least one alkariol with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and 2) a polyfunctional epoxide having at least two epoxide groups which are derived from polyhydric phenols or a polyalkylene olyamine , an amino- plast-forming agent or an aminoplast precondensate t _ > . and that the materials treated in this way are finished by the- we-t-batch, moist batch, ammonia or thermofixing process. 15. Process according to Claim 14, characterised in -tha the treated material are dried and subjected to a heat treatment. 16. Process according to Claim 35, characterised in that i the manufacture of the component (l) the condensation is carried out at 70 to 110°C. 17. Process according to Claim 21, characterised in that in the manufacture of the component (1) a tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium halide is used.. 23. Process according to Claim 2, characterised in that in the manufacture of the component (1) tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium chloride is used. 2;4. Process according to one of Claims 1 to 17, characterised in that in the manufacture of the component (l) a compound of the formula 40242/2 R - C0NH2 wherein R-^ denotes alkoxy with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, hydroxy- alkoxy with 2 to 4 carbon atoms or aminocarbonyl, is used as the amide or carbamate* 25. Process according to Claim 24, characterised in that in the manufacture of the component (1) a compound of the formula · 2 - C0NH2 wherein 2 denotes methoxy, ethoxy, 2-hydroxyethyl or aminocarbonyl, is used as the amide or carbamate, 26.
