Abstract
1382161 Purifying sewage NORM AMC AG 20 Jan 1972 [21 Jan 1971] 2743/72 Heading C1C In a process for purifying sewage, e.g. removing phosphates, the sewage together with a flocculating or precipitating agent from conduit 13, is passed through conduit 10 to mixing zone 5 of tank 1 containing gyroscopic mixer 11 and the mixture is passed downwardly through flocculation zone 6 by helical screw 14, to sedimentation zone 3 where the sludge settles out from the purified water which is discharged from clear water zone 8 over weir 15. Some sludge may be recycled from zone 3 to zone 5 through pipe 16 by the suction of mixer 11. Sludge may be periodically discharged from zone 3 under the control of photoelectric means. The tank 1 may be substantially cone- or pyramid-shaped.

Claims (1)
