Description
OR MUZZLE ASSEMBLY FOR FIN STABILISED PROJECTILE nsp The invention relates to the design of a barrel extension or a muzzle particularly for rifled especially for the barrels or grenade launchers and the Various types of muzzle assemblies on rifled barrels fo firearms are structures are provided with radial openings of a greater or lesser and having a larger inner diameter than the in muzzle assemblies the disposition of the openings for the explosive gases is so formed that the gases are to a greater or lesser extent deflected The object of the invention is to make a barrel end or muzzle especially for by means which the passage of the projectile can be beneficially The is characterised according to the invention in that radial openings are provided in the barrel the assembly on the inner circumference of the or muzzle having an identical inner corresponding to the The openings can be formed as this instance the series of grooves can be the openings can be formed as slots passing through the barrel or the In this way considerable influence can be exercised on the trajectory of the in that its ballistic features are As long as the projectile is still in the the gas pressure behind the projectile 1 lessens as a result of the openings or holes in the or The gases can escape before the projectile has emerged from the In previous mebodiments of the barrels of launchers and the the gases can still exert an influence on the When the latter receives no further guidance from it comes in the design according to the that the still guides the and yet the gases are considerably Any disadvantages jet gases can affect the projectile when it is already free of the is The openings o holes An the and the like are so distributed that contact of the projectile or its assembly is maintained with the barrel up to the In the case of running longitudinally to the some fins of the are always in contact with the inner wall of the or The desig according to the invention of the and the like leads to an increased stabilising effect the barrel on the The accuracy of the weapon considerably On the accuracy is twice as great as The itself subject to less the stability is The or reduction exclusion of the jet directly at the barrel mouth means that the projectile ca higher muzzle resulting in a longer the named design of the end or causes a quieter has the advantage of making it more difficult to discover the site of the weapon from the According to a further feature of the the are preferably arranged at an inclination running at an acute angle to the direction of flight of the this way the explosive gases can escape undisturbed in the effective Turbulence and thereby sources of loss are The construction of the muzzle assembly with oblique outlet slots is preferably done by the assembly of a number of annular discs alternating with a larger number of and outlet slots for the explosive gases in the direction of the projectile trajectory are the construction is characterised by its The inner diameter of the annular discs should correspond to the inner diameter of the the annular discs can be assembled into a of discs with the in fact between a and a Connection is by anchor bolts passing through the In this way one a muzzle assembly made up of many single as a unit which can be attached as a whole part to of the mortar or the So that the discs are locked a can be passed the To this the holes in the discs designed to contain the anchor bolts can be provided with radial openings into which the locking running parallel to the anchor is Such a muzzle assembly meets all the demands required of as a compact pp Several exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the drawing 1 and 2 show an embodiment with oblique in longitudinal section and plan Here 1 shows a section along lines of and 2 partly a plan view and partly a section on of 3 and 4 show another embodiment in longitudinal section and in plan view or in partial according to the embodiment in 1 and In the example Figs 1 and 2 the muzzle assembly 2c has radial which are arranged at an acute angle to the direction of flight 6 of the outwards and obliquely A large number of such slots 5 is preferably The explosive gases issuing from the barrel are deflected obliquely upwards and all by the limiting slots so that the gases are afforded clean and directed The withdrawal of the gases takes place in laminar fashion with a relatively smaller diversion from the in the the angular deflection of the slots lying the region of an acute angle to the The angle comes to about 45 for Dependent on the result the inclination of the slots can also be made slightly or slightly The muzzle assembly is constructed so that it has a large number of annular discs 7 which lie at the angle of inclination Distance discs 8 are provided between the annulet A made up of these discs is located between a 9 and a The whole is held together by so that a compact unit The assembly can be screwed on the thread 12 or barrel Disc 13 grips under the projecting part of the barrel The 11 are screwed tight by nuts The 8 are essentially of restricted dimensions and so that an abundant free space remains for the The discs 8 are formed as favourable to flow in their and are in essence So that the discs cannot position is fixed by a To this end a opening 16 is in each annular disc 7 and in each extending 15 through the said insufficientOCRQuality
