Description

DOUBLE-BARIIELLED SIGNAL PISTOL The invention oonoerns a i jJitfi-barrelled signal pistol for firing illumination -, gas -, alarm -, or take off cartridges, in whioh the striking pin is swung into the range of the barrel which is ready for firing by means of a safety lever, known per se, whioh is turned from the safety position. inhere are known already means in various types of ifyitfii*dis**~l>& ' barrelled start-off or signal pistols in whioh eaoh barrel particularly is provided with a separate striking pin and the trigger has a shiftable striker oatoh, wherein the latter is manually or automatically shifted, in that a tension latch, which transfers the trigger movement to the trigger cook, acts together with a oam disk, in order to move the tension latch from the notch of the cook.
Another embodiment consists in that a striker pivotally arranged on the trigger oock is movable into the various firing positions by means of a plate oam turnably mounted on the trigger cook and stepwise movable against the action of a spring during the return movement of the striker, wherein the striker is adjustable to one or the other striking pin.
It has been found that the above-mentioned means show considerable disadvantages, in that, for example, undesirable friotion losses occurred through the straight interaction of the cam plate by means of fixed or movable bolt-pin connections, which friction losses in turn influenoed the trigger weight to a not inconsiderable degree. Besides, in the above-described embodiment the parts used are very expensive, and the manufacture is cumbersome and costly. The object of the invention is seen therein to prevent as much as possible the above-mentioned undesirable disadvantages, particularly also the friction losses of the functional parts, in that the principle of application of cam This is achieved in that the main feature of the invention concerns a mjji i-barrelled signal pistol, which is provided with only one striking pin for both barrels, wherein the striking pin is arranged oentrally to the barrel axes and axially movable in a stud lodged in the weapon housing, and on said stud outside the weapon housing is fixedly mounted a safety shift lever which is adapted to be aotuated by the thumb of the same hand whioh spans the weapon, whioh shift lever is shiftable together with the striking pin from the central safety position into the position ready for firing of the desired barrel.
A further embodiment of the invention is seen in that a oam projeotion, which is arranged on the tension cock and by means of whioh the tension cook is tensioned and drawn during the ^rigger actuation by the tension latch, is arranged in suoh a manner, tha the oam projection slides off the tension latoh in the position of greatest tension owing to the turning movement. In order to retain the function of this sliding-off position in manufacturing also with larger toleranoes, it is suggested to make the tension latch adjustable and oontrollable by means of a threaded pin. It is further suggested, according to the invention, to provide an insert piece of harder material than the weapon housing for the support of the catridges which are inserted or screwed into the barrel in a manner known per se, or are supported by means of a bayonet connection.
A preferred embodiment of a signal pistol according to the invention is illustrated in the drawing.
Pig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a pistol, Pig. 2 shows a crosa-seotion through the pistol on line I-I of Fig# 1 in the direction of the arrows, Pig. 3 shows a partial view with the function of the safety According to Pigs. 1, 2 and 3» the invention consists foremost, as known per se, of a housing consisting of two halves 1 and 2, in which the functional parts are lodged, respectively, arranged, the two barrel connections 3 and 4 making an integral unit with the weapon housing. Through a rearward withdrawing of the trigger and the tension latch 7 which is turnably lodged therein by means of pin 6 and which is in operational connection under the force of compression spring 8, the latch 7 is held under tension by a oam projection 9 of the tension cock for suoh a period until the latch 7 will slide off the slanted surface of the projection 9 owing to the turning movement of the oock 10 which is fixed on axis 11. It is possible herein to correspondingly set and adjust the position and the sliding-off of the tension latch 7 from the oam projection 9 by the provision of a screw 12.
When the operator by aotion of the thumb of the same hand which surrounds the handle 13 of the weapon turns the shift lever 14 (Pig. 2) from the firing position of the barrel 3 shown in Pig. lf into the central position and turns therewith the stud 15 whioh is lodged in the housing 1, as well as the striking pin 16 which is movable therein in a longitudinal and guided movement, the weapon is secured in this position and the trigger 5 can not be actuated. Por this purpose, a pin 17 whioh is riveted to the stud 15 engages along the surface 18 of a catoh 20 which is under the influence of a spring 19 in a notch 21-, whereby the catch 20 is pressed downwards to such an extent that it engages in the cut-out 22 of the trigger 5 and arrests the latter. If now, as has been already described, the shift lever and simultaneously therewith the striking pin 16 are turned into the lower out of the notch 21 and moves 18' of the catoh 20, whereby, after the trigger 5 is tensioned, the barrel 4 is ready for firing.
For the purpose of firing a cartridge in the corresponding operating position of the turned striking pin 16, the back end 23 thereof is met after the triggering aotion as a safety position by the prism-like surfaoes 24 and 25 as well as by the inner starting point 26 of said surfaoes of the tension cook 10, wherein the striking pin 16 lies in its rear position against the oock 10 under the oonstant influence of its compression spring 27, as shown in Pig, 1.
In order to keep the wear and tear of the weapon in the firing range of the cartridge position in relation to the tip of the striking pin 16 as low as possible, there is arranged in the housing of the weapon, and particularly in the inner part of the weapon barrels, a cartridge guide plate 28 which is made of harder material, in whioh the cartridges are held, for example by screwing, by means of a spring biassed pin connection or by similar means.
The invention is not limited to the illustrated embodiment only, and conoerns basically multi-barrelled signal pistols with the use of only one striking pin for more than one weapon barrel.
