Abstract

A milking system that includes a plurality of annular actuator arrays, each having annular actuators arranged one above the other and sized and shaped to encircle a teat of a mammalian udder along a longitudinal axis thereof, a motor configured to rotate a camshaft comprising cams arranged such that noses, each of another of the cams, are at different radial locations around a rotational axis of the camshaft, cylinders arranged linearly such that each comes into contact with one of the noses so as to allow the respective nose to actuate the respective cylinder intermittently, and fluid-filled tubes each fluidly connecting between one of the cylinders and one annular actuator of each of the annular actuator arrays. A rotation of the camshaft causes, simultaneously, sequential expansion of annular actuators of each of the annular actuator arrays.
