Abstract

Use of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) as material for slide bearings, especially in bridges, is new. An independent claim is included for a slide bearing for industrial use, especially for bridges with high speed sections, which contains UHMWPE and exceeds EN1337/part 2.

Claims (19)

1. UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) which in suitability tests complies with the coefficients of friction in accordance with EN 1337- 2:2000, wherein at least with regard to the surface pressure, the sliding path and/or the sliding speed a value is used which is greater than the corresponding standard value fixed and tested in accordance with EN 1337-2:2000, namely with regard to the surface pressure this value is greater than 30 MPa, with regard to the sliding path it is greater than 10242 m and with regard to the sliding speed it is greater than 2 mm/s, wherein the UHMWPE is configured as a sliding disc in bearings in the construction industry, namely bearings in accordance with EN 1337-2:2000 such as for instance sliding bearings for bridges.

UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that the low- friction material in this case is subjected to stresses which are above the dimensional values of EN 1337-2:2000, namely with regard to surface pressure this value is more than 60 MPa, with regard to the total sliding path it is greater than 10242 m and with regard to the sliding speed it is greater than 2 mm/s.
3. UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the UHMWPE is' configured as plain bearings for structures for magnetic levitation tracks.
4. UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the low-friction material can accommodate a surface pressure up to 1.5 times the value of the maximum standard value in accordance with EN 1337-2:2000.
5. UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the low-friction material can accommodate a sliding path up to 3 times the maximum standard value in accordance with EN 13372:2000. 166388/3 -7-
6. UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the low-friction material can accommodate a sliding speed of up to 5 times the maximum standard value in accordance with EN 13372:2000.
7. UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the low-friction material meets the requirement in accordance with EN 1337-2:2000 at a temperature of -35°C.
8. UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it is used together with UHMPWE silicone grease, in particular for initial lubrication.
9. Plain bearing, in particular for bridges of high-speed route, characterized in the UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) is used as in any one of the preceding claims as low-friction material in the low-friction bearing.
10. Sliding bearing in accordance with Patent claim 9, characterized in that the low-friction material comprises a filler, in particular glass beads and/or glass micro beads and/or ceramics micro beads in order to improve the stability of shape.
11. 1 1. Sliding bearing in accordance with Patent claim 9 or 10, characterized in that the low-friction material comprises additives, in particular soot and/or MoS2 and/or oil to improve sliding properties.
12. Plain bearing as claimed in any one of claims 9-1 1, characterized in that the plain bearing comprises the low-friction material in the form of a planar or curved sliding disc or sliding plate.
13. Plain bearing as claimed in any one of claims 9-12, characterized in that the low-friction material has lubricant pockets to accommodate lubricants. 8 166388/3
14. Plain bearing as claimed in any one . claims 9 to 13, characterised in that silicone grease is provided, preferably for initial lubrication, on the sliding threads, in particular on the lubricant pockets.
15. Plain bearing as claimed in Claim 12, characterised in that the sliding disc or plate is accommodated in a supporting plate, wherein at least up to half of its thickness is preferably enclosed.
16. Low-friction material in the form of a sliding disc for use in a plain bearing as claimed in any one of Claims 9 to 15, made from UHMWPE, characterised in that the surface region is modified with silicone grease.
17. Low-friction material as claimed in Claim 16, characterised in that the silicone grease is worked into the surface, in particular by pressure loading and/or rubbing in, preferably by the running in of the plain bearing.
18. Low-friction material as claimed in Claim 16 or 17, characterised in that the silicone grease is a lithium-saponified silicone oil based on methyl phenyl silicone oil.
19. Low-friction material as claimed in any one of Claims 16 to 18, characterised in that the silicone grease has the following properties: drop point >200°C in accordance with DIN ISO 2176 and/or worked penetration of 20 to 35 mm, in particular 25 to 30 mm, preferably 26.5 to 29.5 mm in accordance with DIN ISO 2137 and/or hydraulic pressure of <200 hPa at 20°C in accordance with DIN 51805 and/or hydraulic pressure of <1000 hPa at -40°C in accordance with DIN 51805 and/or an oii separation of <1.5%, in particular <1 at 40°C and 18 hours' duration in accordance with DIN 51817.
