Abstract

Selected bulk ingredient materials are delivered from storage bins (10) to a mixer (12) and mixed with additives to from a dry feed mix. The dry feed mix is discharged into a holding bin (28), and then fed through a liquids adder (30). A flow sensor (48) detects flow of dry feed mix from the holding bin (28) to the liquids adder (30) and controls delivery of molasses to the liquids adder (30) for mixing with the dry feed mix. The molasses is injected at a molasses inlet (45) adjacent an inlet (35) of the liquids adder (30). A screw auger within the liquids adder (30) has mixing blades adjacent the inlet (35) for rapidly mixing the molasses with the dry feed mix to form coarse animal feed which is discharged through one of two outlets (36, 37) of the liquids adder (30).
