Abstract
A tapping saddle has first and second parts adapted to fit around a mains pipe. A hinge mechanism permits relative movement of the first and second parts between an open state for fitting around a pipe and a closed state for securing the saddle to the pipe. This allows for the use of the tapping saddle in conditions where access to the pipe is limited. The first and second parts include means that the saddle can be secured in the closed state, and that the tapping saddle can be used in conjunction with a tapping mechanism. <Figure 1>
