Abstract

The process comprises using an aq. emulsion of a fatty material comprising a hydroxylated phosphatide (produced by hydroxylation of ethylenic double bonds c.f. US2445948 and US 2629662 using oxidants esp. H2O2). Unlike normal phosphatides, the above penetrate the leather completely and are almost completely absorbed so that the bath is practically exhausted. The process is applicable to all types of leather.
