The holder (1) has a tubular sleeve (3) of which the bottom extremity narrows down and forms a groove (4) extending axially in both directions. Two opposite faces (8, 9) of the sleeve make up a wedge-shaped ending part (10).

Description

The present invention relates to a filter bag holder for holding a filter bag during the preparation of drinka such ae tea and coffee, wherein the filter bag with the tea leaves or the ground coffee immerse in the hot water of the drink container.
A disadvantage of the holder desoribed in DE-GM 77 18 546 ie that it ie provided with a socket which is compressed or reduced in ite circumference, end which can only be introduced into the opening region of a flat filter beg with difficulty· It requires a certain ekill for the appropriate introduction and fastening of the filter beg to this ’θ holder.
DE-OS 20 17 606 describee a one-piece holder for the retention of e filter bag for tea or coffee, which has e socket which narrows towards the lower end. The socket is slotted in the axial direction end can be resiliently compressed or reduced in its circumference. It is however a ’5 disadvantage that it ie difficult to introduce thia into a flat filter beg due to the relatively large, approximately circular, ahapa of the lower opening crosa-eection of the holder.
According to the present invention there is provided a filter bag holder provided uith a member for insertion into a mouth of a filter bag, means for ao resting the holder on the rim of a vessel that the member depends into the vessel, end means for limiting the extent to which the member is ineerteble into the filter bag, the member comprising spaced elements which are resiliently urgeable towards each other for said insertion and which on removal of the urging force after said insertion are each adapted to bear against respective opposite internal well portions of the filter beg, each element having at least a free end portion which is disposed to extend furthest into the filter bag and - 2 48146 which is so provided with a bevel tapering towards tha bevel provided on tha other element aa to facilitate said insertion.
The member may comprise an approximately tubular portion remote from the free and of the elements.
Tha holder may comprise a handle.
Tha elements may be provided by meane comprising a elot extending through the member.
The meane for limiting the extent to which the member is ineerteble in the filter bag may comprise an annular element. 'θ The member at an end portion thereof remote from the free end of each element may be eubetantially surrounded by a generally annular rim. Hereby, e secure limitation ie et first farmed when pushing a filter bag onto the member or the introduction of the member into a filter bag and, also good support on the opening rim of drink containers of different '5 diameter of opening is provided.
The annular rim may comprise a portion forming a races» to provide a hinge to facilitate eaid resilient urging. Hereby, it is eeeily poBelble to aet the spring force of the holder, which is preferably integrally constructed and made of synthetic material such a plastice, to be light in the region of the hinge. Furthermore, manufacturing materiel ie saved compared with a holder with a socket having only one slot.
The receae-forming portion may comprise a surface which at least in part acta ae the meane for resting the holder on the rim of a vessel. Hereby, the hinge together with ths region of the handle neighbouring the member Z5 beyond the rim can likewise serve ae support for the holder on the drink container.
The annular rim may be provided with a slot and the handle may comprise - 3 A8U4 6 sn elongate first member extending from the rim adjacent one side of the elot end a second member extending from the rim adjacent the other side of the slot, the firet member having an external surface portion uhich ia co-planer with en external surface portion of the eecond member and the first end second members each having a respective one of two mutually facing surface portions uhich are spaced to allow the firet and second members to be resiliently urged towards each other and to thereby urge the spaced elements towards each other. An embodiment comprising these features hae handiness and security in uee. For ectuation of the firet member, the thumb of the hand gripping the handle of the holder must not be spread too far ewey from the hand.
The firet member ie also eo arranged that it can not be actuated inadvertently or unconsciously.
The member may be provided with et least one sharp projection to Ί5 perforate a filter bag.
The annular rim may be a closed rim and be provided with diametrically opposite prees element'Which whan pressed towards each other urge the elements towards each other. With this holder, in the case of the introduction into a filter bag, tha member will change its respective crose-0 section non-uniformly on appropriate operation of tha prees pieces provided fcr this, increasingly from the upper end to the lower end of the member.
Embodiments of the present invention will now be more particularly described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in uhicht-5 Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a holder from above.
Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of the holder shown in Fig. 1 from below, - 4 48146 Fig. 3 shows a perspective view of the holder shown In Fig. 1 with a Filter beg Fastened thereto, and Fig. 4 shows another embodiment oF a holder.
ReFerring to the accompanying drawings, Figs. 1 to 3 show a holder 1 For the retention oF a Filter bag 2, especially a Filter bag manufactured ae a Flat bag. The holder 1 comprises an insertion member or socket 3 with a slot 4 aa well ee a handle 7 disposed to one side of the elot 4 and a pressure piece 16 disposed to the other eide of the elot 4. Apart From the elot 4, e elot 23 disposed diametrally opposite the elot 4 ie provided in the socket 3 eo that the socket 3 ia subdivided into eocket parte 14 and 15. The eocket parte 14 and 15 are connected with each other through a resilient connecting piece or hinge 13. Regions of the handle 7, the pressure piece 16 end the oonneoting piece 13 Form reete 5 and 6 for resting the holder on the opening rim of a drink container. Tha aookat 3 het an annular Flange or rim 11. Parte of the Flange 11 designated by 12 serve aa the resilient connecting piece 13. Furthermore, the Flange 11 rune out into the handle 7 or into the prase piece 16 on the aide of the socket 3 lying opposite the oonneoting piece 13.
The socket 3 ie approximately cylindrical or slightly conical.
Oppositely disposed surfaces 8 and 9 are provided on the eocket 3 towards the lower end thereto on tha one or on the other side of tha elot 4. The surfaeee 8 and 9 are inclined towards the longitudinal axis of the eocket 3 in euoh a manner that a bevel, wedge-like or outting-edge-like end region 10 of the socket 3 ia Formed Facilitating the introduction of tha aookat 3 into a Filter bag 2. Through actuation of the press piece 16, i.e. through moving the press pieoa 16 towards the handle 7, the narrow lower opening oroes-eeetion of the socket 3 ie further reduced eo that tha socket cen be - 5 48146 introduced into a filter bag without any special dexterity being necessary. After releasing the press pieoe 16, the resilient connecting piece 13 is again relieved with enlargement of the opening cross-section of the socket 3 so that the filter bag 2 pulled onto the socket 3 is held fast by the holder 1 tightly tensioned around the socket 3.
The annular flange 11 affords a secure limitation when pushing a filter bag 2 onto the socket 3 of the holder 1· The press piece 16 of the holder 1 is disposed in a recess 17 provided in the handle 7, The aide 18 of the preee pieoe 16 remote from the handle 7 is co-planar with the long aide of the handle 7 adjoining the reoeee 17. The side 19 of the press pieoe 16 facing the handle' 7. ie spaced from the opposite side 24 of the handle 7 by a distance approximately equal to the width of the slot 4 or of the slots 4 end 23 provided in the socket 3.
Barb-like spigots are provided on the sockets 3 or on the socket parts 14 end IS for perforation of the filter bag 2 in the opening region. fig. 4 shows a holder 25, which ia likewise suitable for the 20 retention of a filter bag 2. The holder 25 comprises a socket 26 with slots 27 end 26. The cylindrical or slightly conical socket 26 at its lower end hae opposite surfaces 29 and 30 respectively, which form e bevel, wedge-like or cutting-edge-like end region 31 as in the holder 1 shown in Figs, 1 to 3. The socket 26 rune out into a rim or flange 32 which hae the shape of a closed ring. Press pieces 33 and 34 are moulded onto the generally annular flange 32 on the sides of the surfaces 29 and 30. The elote 27 and 28 era prolonged in the downwardly extending portion 35 - 6 48146 of tbs flange 32. Thue, region· 36 and 37 remain on tho flange 32 and aot aa raailiant connecting pieces for the socket parts 38 and 39 formed by the elote 27 and 28. By pressing the prase pieces 33 and 34 against each other, the narrow opening croes-aaction in the lower region of the socket 3 can ba reduoed ao that the eoeket 26 of the holder 25 can be easily introduced into e filter bag manufactured as flat beg.
It it possible to produce the socket with the bevel, wedge-like or cutting-adge-like end region not of solid material. The socket could be formed of appropriately extending stays or struts. Furthermore, the end region of the socket may bs constructed no that it does not run out reotilinaarly but slightly rounded off towards both sides.
The holders described above by way of example oan ba manipulated easily and saouraly. The fastening of a filter beg, manufactured ae flat bag, to the holders ia aimply and rapidly effooted without requiring any special dexterity. By reducing the socket in ite diameter or oircumferenoa by compression of tha manipulatable means, whereafter the bevelled end region of tha aockat can be pushed between tha filter bag parte lying over one another with gradual widening of tha opening region of tha filter bag, insertion into tha bag ia easily accomplished. Tha narrow through20 flow croae-eectlon formed by tha wedge-like or bevelled and region of tha aockat also provides a certain regulation of the weter stream during the filling-in of the water into the socket. Thie helps to prevent the filter bag from being torn from tha holder through too strong a water feed.
