Abstract

Deacylation of benzyl- and phenoxymethylpenicillin tetrazoles to produce 6-amino-2,2-dimethyl-3-(tetrazol-5-yl)penam by the use of selected deacylases. The process is useful in the purification of said penam which is a valuable synthetic intermediate. It has been found that those enzymes which will deacylate benzyl- and phenoxymethylpenicillin will generally deacylate the corresponding tetrazoles. [US3905868A]
