Abstract

1520302 Powder spray coating H B ZACHRY CO 25 June 1975 03003/78 Divided out of 1520301 Heading B2L Apparatus for coating a workpiece with a particulate material contained in an elongate tape having encapsulated therein a predetermined quantity of the particulate material per unit length comprises, means for producing a flow of hot gas and directing the hot gas against the workpiece, feed means for feeding the tape at a controlled rate to a stripping station; means for stripping the particulate material from the tape, means for supplying a carrier gas stream to entrain the particulate material and injection means for injecting the carrier gas stream and the entrained particulate material into the flow of hot gas. In the apparatus shown tape 100 is fed between anvils 122 and 144. Film 102 is pulled around 124 by rollers 126 and on to take-up spool 128 and film 104 is similarly. wound on to 130. Films 102 and 104 are the two component films of tape 100 and encapsulate the particulate material. The particulate material enters pneumatic conduit 132. The whole stripping mechanism is housed in air-tight chamber 134. Oxidizer from supply 136 and gaseous fuel from supply 142 are directed under pressure to a conventional flame gun 140 whence the hot gas containing the particulate material is imparted on the work-piece. An inert gas supply 148 may be provided to pressurize chamber 134 through automatic regulator 150. [GB1520302A]
