Abstract
1526524 Preheating primary air W H D MORRIS 27 Jan 1976 [27 Jan 1975 22 Dec 1975] 03161/76 Heading F4W A solid fuel-fired space heater comprises a combustion chamber 10 having fire bars 14 for supporting a firebed 13 and at least one hollow side wall 11 provided with an adjustable air inlet (not shown) and with at least one outlet 12 for discharging primary air heated in the hollow wall(s) 11 into the combustion chamber 10, a flue connected at its lower end to an ashpit beneath the firebars 14 for downdraught through the firebed 13, and heat readiating fins (not shown) on the outer surface of the heater. In the form shown, the ashpit communicates with a first flue 18, 48 behind the combustion chamber, controllable by a damper 27 having a cut-out to prevent complete closure, and associated with the heat radiating fins (26, Fig. 1) and a boiler (22); and with a second flue 29, 42, 49 associated with superposed ovens 36, 37 and a hot plate 39 and controllable by a damper 51. A damper slide 52, normally closed, may be opened to permit updraught through the combustion chamber 10. The flue portion 42 beneath the hot plate 39 is divided by a partition 44 into a U-shaped passage, one leg of which has an inlet 40 from flue portion 29 and the other leg having an outlet 43 to flue portion 49.
