Abstract
1444492 Butyrimidic acids ROUSSEL UCLAF 2 Sept 1974 [3 Sept 1973] 38291/74 Heading C2C Novel butyrimidic acids of the formula wherein X<SP>1</SP> 1 , X<SP>11</SP> 1 , X<SP>1</SP> 2 and X<SP>11</SP> 2 each are H, halogen, C 1-5 alkyl, C 1-5 alkoxy, C 1-5 alkylthio, CF 3 , trifluoromethoxy, trifluoromethylthio, OH or di(C 1-5 alkyl)amino, X, Y and Z each are H or C 1-5 alkyl, R 1 is H or C 1-5 alkyl, R 2 is OH or C 1-5 alkoxy and the symbols # either both represent single C-C bonds or one represents a C-C bond and the other represents a C=C bond are prepared by reacting the corresponding butyric acids or functional derivatives thereof with compounds of the formula HN(R<SP>1</SP>)R 2 . 4 - (3 - p - Chlorobenzoyl - 2 - methylphenyl)- butyryl chloride is obtained by reacting the corresponding butyric acid with thionyl chloride. Pharmaceutical compositions, suitable for oral, parenteral, rectal or topical administration, contain the above butyrimidic acids and pharmaceutical carriers or excipients. The compounds possess analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
