Abstract
1487501 Automatic control systems COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CIT-ALCATEL 23 Jan 1975 [24 Jan 1974] 2931/75 Heading H4K In a telecommunications exchange, the switching network and its terminal circuits are controlled by a plurality of stored program controlled mini-processors performing different functions and supervised by a central processor and a maintenance processor, the normally operative mini-processors being connected to the network via individual interface units, the arrangement is such that any defective miniprocessor is automatically replaced by a reserve mini-processor. As shown mini-processors MPF1-MPF4 perform line scanning and identification, path selection, dial signal (pulse or frequency) decoding, and junctor supervision respectively for a network R.C. of mini relay matrices. The mini-processors are supervised by a central processor CP having a store MC in which among other things class of service data is stored, and maintenance processor PM and memory MM which stores a copy of all the programs for MPF1-MPF4 and PC and the data in MC. If maintenance processor PM detects a faulty mini-processor it operates a corresponding changeover switch A1, A2, A3 or A4 to cut out that processor and cut in a reserve mini-processor MPS which it programs to take over the function. The front end processors monitor in real time the operation of the network and faults are reported to and recorded in the maintenance computer and on request logged and flagged on a line printer. The use of a time division network as an alternative to the relay network is mentioned.
