Abstract

1359575 Feeding conveyers/discharging hoppers LES PARSONS & SONS (ENGS) Ltd 1 Feb 1973 [10 Feb 1972] 6372/72 Headings B8A and B8S Articles, e.g. onions are removed from a hopper 16 by carriers 15 having locating recesses 19 on an endless conveyer, the bottom of the hopper 16 being provided with a pair of rotating rollers 26 which are eccentrically mounted so that their spacing increases and decreases during rotation to feed the articles to the carriers, and a pair of guide rails 24 which support the articles while these are pushed by the carriers 15 and are tapered to allow the articles to move into the recesses 19. The carriers 15 comprise fingers attached to blocks 48 secured between endless chains 10, 11 which also carry chamfered blocks 21 which serve to discharge excess articles on to shoots 24 for return to the hopper 16. The rollers 24 have a helical groove (41) serving to forward the articles with the carriers 15. A block 36 is carried by a reciprocal wavy bar 35 in the hopper and travels with the carriers to prevent bridge formation in the hopper. The hopper is provided with baffles 31. [GB1359575A]
