Abstract
1404381 Piezo-electric generators BRAUN AG 19 March 1973 [21 March 1972] 13015/73 Heading H2A [Also in Division F4] In a piezo-electric igniter for cigarette lighters which comprises a striker 3, a spring 2 and a manually operable control key 4, the striker is permanently connected to that end of the spring which is moved to store energy in the spring and to the control key. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, the control key pivots about point 5 to extend spring 2 until stop 16a prevents further movement. The key 4 is then released and the spring drives the striker against the piezo element 1. In a simpler embodiment, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown) the control key connected to the striker is slidable in a slot in the cigarette lighter casing to compress the spring. Again, the key is then released to permit the spring to drive the striker against a piezo element. In the embodiment of Fig. 5, the control key 4 is connected to a crank mechanism 6, 7, the end of the connecting rod 7 being connected to the striker. The control key is moved in direction B to compress the spring 2 and then released to allow the spring to drive the striker 3 against piezo element 1. The gas value 9 is opened by a lever 8 in response to movement of control key 4 in direction B.
