Abstract
1385153 Measuring density COMPAGNIE EUROPEENNE D' ACCUMULATEURS 23 Jan 1973 [27 Jan 1972] 3490/73 Heading G1S [Also in Division H1] A device for measuring the density of a first liquid 4 relative to that of a second liquid 5 comprises inter-communicating vessels 1 and 2 respectively containing the first and second liquids in static balance, and a float 6 floating on the surface of the first liquid and provided with graduations 8. The relative density is a function of the difference in levels l which is measured by observing the graduation 8 level with the surface of liquid 2. Alternatively the graduations may be density graduations. Liquid 4, may be a battery electrolyte and liquid 5 may be mayoline. The float 6 may also be provided with a mark 9 cooperating with a scale 13 to indicate the level of liquid 4. Alternatively the mark 9 may be arranged on the vessel 1 and the scale 13 on float 6. If liquid 4 is the liquid of lesser density, the graduations 8 may be arranged below the float. The vessel containing the second liquid may be a tube open at both ends dipping into the first liquid Fig. 2 (not shown). The device may be incorporated in a battery Fig. 2 (not shown) and part of a tube constituting the vessel containing the second liquid may take the form of a cavity in the battery wall.
