Abstract
Radial tyre for high speed use has a peripheral reinforcement consisting of at least one folded layer of elastic metal cords, both the folded layer and the cords being of the same type, either the S type or the Z type. Pref. the peripheral reinforcement contains >=1 unfolded layer whose cords form a greater angle to the peripheral direction than the cords of the folded layer. The angle between the cords of the folded layer and the peripheral direction is >15 degrees pref. 22.5 degrees, but 35 degrees. Prevents breakages in the elastic folded cords at the place of the folds after high speed driving for a number of kilometres.
