1376945 Pressure-sensitive recording sheets FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 22 Oct 1971 [23 Oct 1970 27 Oct 1970 10 Dec 1970] 49317/71 Heading D2B Pressure-sensitive recording material comprises a sheet support carrying microencapsulated colour-former thereon and, on the same or a different sheet, a colour-developer composition in the form of a coated layer including a binder or a printed ink including a plasticiser and binder and containing a compound of a metal, other than an alkali metal, with an aromatic carboxylic acid, which compound is capable of forming a distinct colour when contacted with the colour-former. The acid is preferably a hydroxy acid and the metal preferably Zn, Sn, Al or Ni, although numerous others are specified. The developer may also contain an inorganic pigment which may be a simple silicate or an aluminosilicate. The colour developer composition may be prepared by dissolving or dispersing the metal carboxylate in water or an organic solvent and adding a binder such as gum arabic, ethyl or nitrocellulose, styrene-butadiene copolymer or copolymer latex, or methyl-methacrylate-butadiene latex. In another embodiment the binder is dissolved in the organic solvent, a plasticiser is added, and the metal carboxylate is dissolved or dispersed therein. Specified plasticisers include phosphoric, phthalic, adipic and sebacic acid esters chlorinated paraffin, and castor oil. An alkali metal salt of an organic acid may be added to the colour-developer composition as a stabiliser. Conventional colour-formers may be used, for example, crystal violet lactone, benzoyl leuco methylene blue, fluorans, spiropyrans malachile green lactone, rhodamine Blactam, or a mixture thereof.
