Abstract

1351343 Vaccine preparation NEW ZEALAND INVENTIONS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY 6 July 1971 [6 July 1970] 31684/71 Heading A5B [Also in Division C6] A process for preparing a vaccine effective against Bacteroides nodosus Beveridge (Mraz) infection in sheep and other ruminant animals involves anaerobically cultivating the microorganisms in the presence of carbon dioxide in a nutrient culture medium containing separately added L-arginine or a salt thereof e.g. the monohydrochloride, recovering from the cultured medium antigens that induce protection against Bacteroides nodosus infection and incorporating the recovered protective antigens in a vaccine in a conventional manner. The vaccines may be prepared from the bacterial cells, the supernatant fluid or the two combination. [GB1351343A]
