Abstract

1324975 Microcapsule coated sheets FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [2 April 1970] 25792/71 Heading B2E A microcapsule coated sheet which does not develop high static electrical charge is made by coating a support sheet with a dispersion of the microcapsules, which may contain adhesives, dyes, foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals or perfumes, to which has been added a polymer containing a unit or units of wherein R is hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an atom forming a water soluble salt with the carboxy group or an alkali metal salt or anhydride of such a carboxy containing polymer, and drying the coated support. The polymer is preferably present in amounts of between 0.5 and 4% of the dispersion which is preferably maintained alkaline. Suitable polymers are homopolymers of maleic acid, maleic anhydride or alkyl maleate or copolymers thereof, with vinyl ether, styrene, vinyl acetate, ethylene or butylene. The molecular weight of the polymer is preferably between 500 and 10,000. The microcapsules may be made by a coacervation method with gelatin or polymer-forming capsule walls. The support sheet may be of paper, plastic or laminated paper and plastic. [GB1324975A]
