Abstract
1,263,165. Agitators. IMPERIAL SMELTING CORP. (N.S.C.) Ltd. 26 June, 1970 [4 July, 1969], No. 33881/69. Heading B1C. [Also in Division C7] An impeller for rotation about a vertical axis and suitable for at least partial immersion in a body of molten lead to cast up a spray of droplets has at least one arm of different length from the other(s). As shown there are two pairs of arms 2, 3 and 4, 5 of unequal lengths; the arms slope downwards from a central boss 1 (see Fig. 2, not shown) and have terminal scoops 6, 7, 8, 9. A suitable material is ferritic 3% chromium steel, and dimensions are quoted. The impeller is intended for use in an apparatus for condensing zinc from the vapour of a zinc blast furnace by passing it through a spray of molten lead droplets.
