Abstract
1,268,596. Washbasins; supply fittings; brackets. W. ROTTER and J. ROTTER. Feb. 25, 1970 [Feb.25, 1969], No.9089/70. Headings A4B and A4N. A multiple washbasin 1 is made in one piece from concrete or artificial stone having its internal surfaces and the back upper surface coated with either hot or cold synthetic material. The external surfaces are ground flat. The bottom wall 6 is flat and slopes downwardly rearward to a gutter 7. The back wall 9 overhangs the gutter to form a splashtrap and has recesses 14 in its upper surface 11 which slope towards the basin. The front wall 8 also slopes inwards to form a splashtrap or has an internal rim, Fig. 4 (not shown), recesses 12 being formed opposite recesses 14. All internal corners are rounded to prevent the accumulation of dirt. Faucets 5 are located in holes 15 behind recesses 14, which holes are initially blind and are then punched out as required to accommodate faucets. Bushes, against which nuts on the faucets are tightened, are located in the holes 15. The faucets are prevented from rotating by pins which penetrate the bushes radially, Fig. 8 (not shown), the outer ends locating in slots in the basin and the inner ends in a slot in the outer tube of the faucet. The faucets may alternatively be carried on an upper distributor 4 supplied by pipes 16 located in initially blind holes as described above, but situated near the rear corners of the basin. The basins are interlocated when in back to back or side by side relationship, by locating pins which engage bushes set in the basins back and side walls, see Fig. 5 (not shown). Integral studs 17 prevent washing equipment from falling into the basin. Towel holders 20 of the resilient cross slot type are provided in the front wall 1. The towel holders communicate with fall shafts, Fig. 3 (not shown) which allow rubbish inserted therein to fall to the floor.
