Abstract

1,224,600. Caps for containers. AMERICAN FLANGE & MFG. CO. Inc. 16 Feb., 1970 [5 March, 1969], No. 7377/70. Heading B8T. A capsule for sealing a container has a tearout panel (32), Fig. 2 (not shown), such that after removal of the panel, the sides of the capsule act as a clamp to retain a plug 5 in the neck of the container. The edges of the tear-out panel are defined by lines of weakness (30a) in the top surface and the skirt of the capsule. The direction of the metal grain, indicated by arrow (37), Fig. 2 (not shown), lies parallel to the direction of the tear strip to enable the tear strip to be completely removed. A pull-ring 28 is also provided to assist the removal of the tear strip. [GB1224600A]
