Abstract

A structural aid, for helping invalids to stand, from a seated position, comprises a U-shaped base frame having limbs 2 and a bridge piece 3. Between limbs 2 is a platform 5, and projecting upwardly from bridge piece 3 is a bracket 6 having a pivot pin 7 passing through the lower end of a member 8, which has at its other end, a bar 9 having handles 10, parallel to the platform 5. At about the centre of member 8 are holes 12 for receiving a bolt 13 associated with a slidable connection 14 for securing, at any of holes 12, the apex end of a V-shaped brace member 15, which supports member 8, the free ends of member 15 being pivotally connected by pins 16 to a support member 17 located at one end of platform 5 between the limbs 2. Limbs 2 are placed under a chair carrying an invalid, who places his feet on platform 5, and by gripping handles 10, pulls himself to a standing position. A small detachable table top 25 has a groove 28 and a locating bar 27 on its underside and is detachably fitted on to a frame having side members 21, and end rotatable member 23 a cross-member 26 between members 21, and a supporting brace 24. Groove 28 and locating bar 27 match with rotatable member 23 and cross-member 26 respectively. The frame is detachably mounted on the handles 10. [GB1262751A]
