In order to render dark coloured rabbit fur suitable for making hats or use in the textile industry it can be faded. The fading process can be used on skins, fur off the skin or felt in aq. solutions. Following an optional pretreatment with Fe(II) sulphate the material is subjected to oxidation or to oxidation and reduction. The oxidative bath being 5-10 times the volume of the fur contains Hydropenperoxide, inorganic ions and surfactant. Deduction is carried out in an aq. soln. of sodium-dithionit. The Fe(II)SO4 treatment soln. also contains NaCl, Organic acid, Formaldehyde and nonionic surfactant.
