Abstract
High yield process for the production of high octane and low benzene content gasolines involves a cycle where a crude oil is fed into an atmospheric distillation unit from which a virgin naphtha fraction is obtained, which in turn is sent to a splitting unit to produce a light tops fraction and heavy naphtha fraction. The light tops fraction is sent to an isomerisation unit and the heavy naphtha fraction is sent to a catalytic reformer. The heavy naphtha fraction contains no more than 0.5 vol.% 6C hydrocarbons and the light tops fraction contains no more than 4 vol.% 7 C+ hydrocarbons.
