Abstract

The surface to be marked is first degreased and roughened with an ultra-fine sponge, the cleaned surface is then heated by infra-red lamps to a temperature between 60 and 80 deg.C. The master pattern of the mark to be applied is then fixed with adhesive tape to the heated surface. A paint which is hidden in natural light but becomes visible in ultra-violet light is applied to mark the surface, the paint being applied by a dye sprayer, or ink jet printer. After drying for 20 minutes the pattern is removed and the paint will penetrate to the metal of the car body in four days and final polishing of the marked surface can then be done.
