Abstract
A basic metal nitrate satisfies the following conditions: (a) the particle diameter is 0.5-40 Microm; (b) the crystallization degree is such that the half width of a peak in X-ray analysis is 0.4[deg] or less; (c) the initial weight loss temperature in TGTDA analysis is 220[deg]C or higher; and (d) the amount of impurities based on sodium atom is 1000 ppm or lower. Independent claims are also included for the following: (i) a gas generation composition containing the salt; (ii) the preparation of the nitrate by reacting a metal nitrate and an alkali metal hydrocarbonate; (iii) a gas generation composition containing a fuel and the above nitrate wherein the nitrate satisfies the following conditions: (a-1) the particle diameter is 0.5-40 Microm; (a-2) the particle surface area is 0.4-6.0 m 2>/g; and (a-3) the volume density is 0.4 g/ml or higher; (iv) a similar composition in which the nitrate coagulates into secondary particles (v) a similar composition containing (a) a guanine derivative from tetrazole, guanidine, carboxylic acid guanidine, nitro guanine, dicyaninediamide, nitroaminoguanidine and nitroaminoguanidine nitrate, (b) the base metal nitrate and optionally (c) binder and/or slag forming agent and/or (d) a combustion improver; (vi) a similar composition containing (a) and (b) and optionally (c), in which the composition satisfies the following conditions: (1) the weight loss when the composition is stored air tight at 90[deg]C for 1000 hours or 110 [deg]C for 400 hours is 0.2 % or less; (2) the minor gas concentration measured in a 2800L tank are CO 400 ppm or lower, NO 40 ppm or lower, NO 2 8 ppm or lower and NH 3 is 100 ppm or lower; and (3) the maximum internal pressure is 7840 - 225000 kPa when the composition is burning; (vii) a similar composition containing guanidine nitrate as (a), basic Cu nitrate as (b) and Na carboxymethylcellulose as (c); (viii) an inflator for an air back using the compositions; and (ix) pellets obtained from the above compositions.
