Description
USE OF A FLAT FILM BAG IN AUTOMATIC FILLING ASSEMBLIES
Description
The invention- relaies to the use of a fiat-laid film bag in an· automated filling system, in which-the film bag is opened, wherein the film bag is formed with a front wall, a rear wall, side folds laid between the iront wail and the rear wall and a reelosure consisting, of a reefosure strip on Ute inside of the.bag·. The reclosure strip consista of one or more parts and is disposed on the inner surface of a side fold and adjoining this on the inner surfaces of the front wall and the rear wall and extends into a two-ply bag section formed by the front wall and the rear wall.
Film bags having the features described are idled at the top itt automatic idling systems and then closed by at least one head sealing seam. In this case, high-quality mostly airtight packagings are produced, in particular for pourable products, e.g. granular or pelleted animal feed in order to open the packaging for the first tinte, a top-side bag seel ion must be cut off. In so doing, the side fold provided with the reclosure is exposed, -which can be used as a reclosable spout. A bag packaging having the features described is known from WO 2004/092025 A2. The features of the preamble of claim i are known from D F> A-1Ü 2 0 Ö7054690.
During the fabrication of flat-laid film bags, the reclosure is expediently- closed, wherein mutually opposite sections of the reclosure strip are brought into engagement with one another. As a result, the film plies of the film bag lie fiat on one another which is: advantageous for the handling, transport and stacking of the fiat* laid film bags. In particular, it can be prevented that a four-ply bag section consisting of the front wall, the rear 'wail, and the side fold provided with the reelosure splays out as a result of the reelosure strip springing back. In an automatte filling system, the fiat-laid film bag is then opened with the aid of suction, devices -which are applied to the front -wall and the rear wall of the film bag. The process should be carried with short clock times. The opening of the bag is not always achieved smoothly so that misfillings and machine stoppages can occur.
The reelosure strip has latching elements. The opening force of the reelosure can be influenced by-varying the geometry of the latching element s and by the choice of-material. In so doing however it should be noted that the reelosure must not open automatically during subsequent use if, for example, the filled packaging is held upside down. A reduction in the opening force by means of a geometrical variation of the reelosure is therefore only possible within limits. It should also be taken into account that the temperature has a strong effect on the opening force of a reelosure, At low temperatures the force which must be applied to open the reelosure increases. In winter the fiat-laid film bags are therefore stored in heated halls in order to ensure that the reelosure elements open correct ly when the film bags are opened in a filing system for the purpose of filling.
It is the object of the invention to furl lier configure a fiat-laid film bag having the features specified in ihe preamble so ihat it can always be opened and filled correctly in automatic filling systems.
The subject master of the invention and the solution of! Isis object is a use according the claim I. The front walk the rear wall and ihe side fold provided with the reelosure form a four-ply bag section in the delivery state, whose plies are releasably connected by the reelosure strip. On the other hand, the sections of the reelosure strip arranged on the front wall and the rear wail are not connected in the region of ihe two-ply bag section. As A result of a pattiéi, pre-opening of the icelosure, that is floe to an opening of the mclosure in the region of the two-ply bag section to be taken into account during tlhrication of the film bag, the initial force required to release the reciosure cári be reduced. When the front wall and the rear wail arc grasped with suction tools and ptiHed apart in an automatic filling system, the opening of the rsciösure begins in the region of the two-ply bag section, that is. where the mutually opposite reciosure strips are not engaged with one another, from there the opening process continues over the length of the reciosure into the region of the lööfrply bag section and the side fold. As a result, the flat-laid film bag can be opened and filled correctly in the filling system without modifications needing to be made to the tilling system, Also a temperature control of the fiat-laid film bag is not necessary. In winter the flat-laid film bags can be stored in unheated halls. The measure according to the invention does not affect the opening force of the reciosure during: its subsequent use. The engagement of the reciosure can be designed so that the filled packaging does not open automatically in the region of the reciosure when the packaging is turned upside down for example.
The reciosure strip preferably consists of one piece over its entire length and expediently has a closure profile which can lock into itself. At the outer edges of the film bag the mdosUfë strip is highly etgyetj, As a result pf elastic restoring forces, the closure strip tends to splay out at the outer edges of the fim bag; Sihee the sections # the reciosure strip arranged on the side fold are each engaged with the reciosure strip arranged on the front wail or rear waif the film bag retains its fiat position even in the region of the tour-ply hag section. The engagement of fite reeiosure ship sections in this region counteracts any sphiying-out of the bag,Ute Hat: position of the fohripiy bag section helps to make the flat-laid Sim bag stackable and easy to handle by means of automatic teed devices. The partial opening of the reciosure restricted to the two-piy bag section does not hâve an disadvantageous effect on the fiat position nor on the handling of the fiat bag and brings about the previously described improvement during opening of the bag in a tilling system.
The film bag can have outet edges reinforced by long!Uiihu.i! sealu'g seams. The longitudinal scaling seams connect the side folds to the res|K*ctivdy adjoining front wall or rear wall. The longitudinal sealing scams are interrupted in the region of the reciosure strip; they end below the reciosure strip and are continued in the head region above the reciosure snip. Tire length of the sections of the reciosure ship arranged on the front wall and the rear wail is greater than the width of the insetted side fold and can also be.freely selected, it can he specified so that it gives an optimal pouring opening for the product when the filled bag packaging is opened for the first time by cutting off a bag section above the reciosure for the purpose of removing a product. The length of the reclosuf« strip can be dimensioned so that the sections of the reciosure strip fastened to the front wail and the rear wali bridge at least a quarter of the width of the two-ply bag section. Expediently the sections on the two-ply bag section extend over a length of at least i cm.
The reciosiwe strip is arranged in the head region of the film bag at a distance front an upper bag edge. The bag surface above the reciosure strip can be provided .with a weakening line for tearing the ’nag package open. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the front wall, the rear wall and the side folds consist of a multilayer Slim wind) has a seaiabie polyolefin layer on the inner side of the bag and a printable outer layer made of a Stifter polymer. Unlike I he polyolefin scaling layer which preferably consists of a polyethylene. I he stiffer polymer can be cut by means of a laser; According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the weakening line therefore consists of a section produced by laser catling winch, penetrates into the Outer layer and leaves the sealable polyolefin layer unharmed.
The invention is explained in detail hereinafter with reference to a drawing showing only one exemplary embodiment. 1» the figures schematically;
Fig. 1 shows a flat-laid film bag for use in automatic Silling systems.
Fig. 2 shows a plan view of the Ailing opening of a Aim bag opened slightly for illustration purposes.
The flint hag shown in the figures lies a front wall (. a rear wall 2, side folds 3, o' inserted between the front wall 1 and the rear wall 2 and a reclosure 5 on the inner side of the bag consisting of a reclosure strip 4. The reciosure strip 4 is arranged on the inner surface of a side fold 3 -inti adjoining this on the inner surfaces of the front wall 1 and the rear wall 2 and extends into a tw-o-plv bag section A formed by the front wall 1 and the fear wall 2. The film bag is prefabricated and supplied as a flat-laid flint bag to an automatic filling system in which it is opened, filled with product and then closed by application of at least one head sealing scant. The flat-laid film bag is opened using suction tools which are applied to the front wall and the rear wall and pull apart the front wall and the rear wall by mean» of adjusting movements. The reciosure 5 provided on the jttnef spfilcé of the film bag is thereby completely opened.
The embodiment in Fig. 2 shows the flat-laid film bag in its delivery state, where the float wall 1 and the rear wall 2 are opened slightly merely for illustration purposes, if. can be seen from the diagram that the front vali 1, the rear oral! 2 and the side fold 3 provided with the reciosure 5 form a four-ply bag section B whose plies are detachably connected by the reciosure strip 4, The sections of the reciosure strip 4 arranged on the Iront wall 1 and the rear wail 2 arc on the other hand not connected in the region of the two-ply bag section A. The film bag is prefabricated as a flat-laid flint bag. In this case the teclosure 5 is closed in the fegipn of the tbur-ply bag section B and not engaged in the two-ply section A. As a result of a partial pre-dpepiffg of the reciosure d, thti is due to art opening of the teclosure 5 in the two-ply bag section A, the force required: fob opening cam be reduced significantly. During opening of the film bag in m automatic fiifm| system, the opening process of the reciosure 3 begins its the region of the two-ply bag section A, that is where themurealiy opposite sections of the reciosure strip are not engaged with one another. The opening process is then continued over the entire length of the reciosure strip 4 as far as the region of the side fold 3. The reciosure 5 curt thereby be of filling the film bag. No modifications to the filling system are required.
The reciosure strip 4 consists of one piece oyer its entire length and expediently has a closure profile which can be locked with itself.
It can be seen from Fig. 1 that the film bag has outer edges ? reinforced by longitudinal sealing seams d. The longitudinal sealing seams P connect the side folds 3,3 ! to the mpecfive^.adja^nf:^bnt:^if öt rear wall 2: In the region of the reciosure strip 4, the longitudinal sealing seams 6 are mtemipÉd.
The length of the sections of foe reciosure strip 4 arranged on the front nil 1 and the rear wail 2 is selected so (hat these sections bridge at least a quarter of the width of the two-ply bag section A.
According to the diagram in Fig. 1, the reciosure strip 4 is arranged in the head region of the bag at a distance from a upper bag edge 8. T he bag surface above the reciosure strip 4 is provided with a weakening line 9 for tearing open the bag package. The. front wall 1, the-rear wail 2 and the side folds 3, 3' preferably eonsists of a multiply film which comprises a scalable polyolefin layer on the bag inner side and a printable outer layer made of a Stifter polymer. The weakening line 9 can in particular consist of a cut produced by laser cutting which penetrates into the outer layer and leaves the sealable polyolefin layer undamaged.
