Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for the economical and safe handling of particulate material such as fruit or other crops, in particular in the refrigeration technology process, which releasably attaches to a pallet base by means of a support frame.

Fruits and fruits have special demands on transport and packaging operations. Producers arriving at the industry must be frozen and then either stored refrigerated or packaged immediately. The material handling costs of the refrigeration industry are the two most significant energy requirements for refrigeration and internal material handling. The specific cooling energy can be reduced by optimizing the utilization of the cooling space and reducing the amount of ballast materials such as packaging. Material handling can be rationalized by mechanization. A satisfactory technical solution is prevented by the fact that the incoming material containers (crates, crates) cannot be tied off for an extended period of time, thus necessitating transhipment and, on the other hand, the standardization of the container. The common drawback of both structures is the relatively complex structure, articulated joints, and other fittings that make reliable cleaning difficult. The excess weight increases the ballast to be cooled, none is perfectly disassembled, and a separate bag or sack is required to accommodate the crop. Similar difficulties arise with other known solutions.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a storage device and a method based thereon which ensures optimal filling of the cold space and release of supplier containers. Intermediate packing and transhipment is eliminated in refrigeration technology and its structure is as simple as possible, allowing easy disassembly, good cleaning and minimizing refrigeration ballast.

The invention is based on the discovery that, in the case of rapid freezing, neither the time required to bind the supplier's packaging nor the loss of freezing of the crop is significant, as opposed to the storage of the refrigerator! with similar problems. By introducing the apparatus of the invention after freezing, further transhipments and intermediate containers (boxes, bags), their thermal insulating, refrigeration and ballast effect, can be eliminated in the technological process by directly loading the crop into the apparatus of the invention.

The invention is further based on the recognition that the standard pallet has only two quarter frames instead of a full frame, which holds the self-supporting and positioning sides.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In accordance with the foregoing, the present invention provides an apparatus for economical and safe handling of particulate material such as fruit or other crop, which has a releasably bonded support frame to a pallet base, and which is characterized by providing formed by "U" elements arranged with spacer connectors, with base plates extending below the pallet at the free ends of the "U" elements, with side panels with positioning edges at least one of which is provided with a venting opening near the pallet.

The present invention also relates to a process for freezing, freezing, storing and expelling a granular, particulate crop, particularly fruit, by freezing, refrigerating and dispatching the crop, the bulk product being frozen in bulk, preferably by means of a loading trough or rack. The apparatus (1) is a large container according to the technical terminology used, based on a pallet (2) of international standard size, with a support frame (11) of about 1800 mm high and thus formed and enclosed (4) storage space 700900 kg frozen suitable for receiving fruit or other pieces of fruit. Example 1

The product from the producer in boxes or crates is frozen at the temperature and time required for the product, then the frozen goods are loaded directly from the supplier's container into the container (1) according to the invention, or lining. After filling, the devices (1) are covered with plastic foil on the free-standing roof side, preferably in the case of plastic foil lining, by folding back the fluffy plastic foil that protrudes beyond the side panels (5). The invention minimizes the tie time of a supplier's packaging, provides optimum space utilization for refrigerated storage, and eliminates the expensive and bulky intermediate packaging as well as its thermal insulation effect.

The device according to the invention can be completely disassembled so that the side panels in particular can be easily and well cleaned. The weight of the equipment has been significantly reduced by reducing the carrier frame to two "U" elements, which is an advantage both for empty return and for the refrigeration ballast, as opposed to other large container solutions. The large container apparatus of the present invention enables large container handling and handling in the refrigeration technology of lumpy, granular crops and fruits. As a result, the requirement to store the same amount of crop to be refrigerated can be reduced by 15%, and by eliminating the intermediate wrapper (even with plastic foil lining), cooling costs are reduced and cooling energy is reduced by eliminating ballast cooling.
