Description

This invention relates to a paper ecological lantern for a cemetery and a method of manufacturing the lantern.

The inventor aimed to find such a technical solution that would improve the existing lantern for the cemetery, which would meet the following requirements: it would be environmentally friendly and primarily without plastic parts, the shape and properties of the product would be acceptable to buyers of traditional products, it would have an improved appearance and will enable improved communication with customers, product packaging will be suitable for transport, stable burning will be ensured without compromising the walls, the product will be protected from weather influences. Also, the inventor had the goal of finding a replacement for the paraffin mass in such a way that the fuel mass from renewable sources is used in the highest possible percentage, as well as finding a way to ensure longer burning of the lantern from the same amount of fuel mass.

Stanje tehnike State of the art

The inventor is not aware that anyone anywhere in the world has devised a paper lantern for a cemetery with the characteristics as set forth in this invention. Namely, there are paper lanterns that have been known for many years, but they are made of ordinary paper coated with LDPE foil and with a metal bottom, and the mantle of such a lantern often self-ignites. Searching the patent databases did not establish that there is a lantern for a cemetery that would have an outer casing made of durable paper without a layer of LDPE foil and a bottom made of paper.

Plastic PVC grave lanterns are available on the market, which after use create a large amount of waste in the form of paper with a layer of plastic and unburnt paraffin fuel mass, and which overall have a large harmful impact on the environment, especially considering the fact that plasticized paper is very difficult to recycle. Using innovative production processes and the use of environmentally friendly resources, the negative impact of the paper eco-lantern presented here on the environment is minimized.

The paper ecological lantern displayed here differs from the existing classic PVC lanterns in that it is made of paper instead of plastic, the wick is made of paper core instead of lead core, and as a fuel, in addition to paraffin, it also uses a high proportion (more than 60%) of alcohol from vegetable fats origin (in classic PVC lanterns, the fuel mass is 100% paraffin), has at least 70% longer burning time compared to the classic PVC lantern of the same weight of fuel mass due to greater utilization of the same and slower burning, and the external design of the lantern is made according to the wishes of the customer.

Kratki sadržaj biti izuma Brief content of the essence of the invention

The paper ecological lantern exhibited here is made of paper that forms the outer casing of the lantern, the usual weight of the paper is 240-300 gr/m2, such an outer casing of the lantern is resistant to external influences (rain, moisture), which is achieved by treating the outer side of the paper with ecological waterproofing agents, without plastic lamination. The outer sheath of the lantern is resistant to high temperatures - thanks to a special coating on the inside of the paper that guarantees fire resistance and prevents migration up to 170 ̊C. On the outer casing of the lantern, it is possible to print according to the customer's wishes, which makes it possible to create a personalized design of the lantern according to the customer's wishes. Printing on the lantern is done using water-based colors, which reduces the harmful impact on the environment. The core of the wick of this lantern is made of paper, and besides paraffin, which is a petrochemical product, alcohol from renewable sources of vegetable origin is used as fuel (obtained from vegetable fat). The percentage of fuel material from renewable sources is greater than 60%, which reduces the use of fossil fuels and CO2 emissions. There is a very high utilization of fuel mass (more than 95%) due to the cylindrical shape of the paper eco-lantern, which shape enables uniform burning of the fuel mass - the flame is exactly in the middle of the candle (lantern) and is equidistant from all points viewed in the horizontal plane towards the mantle lanterns. When making this lantern, a gravimetric process of mixing the fuel mass of the lantern and pouring techniques are used, which enable a constant density of the fuel mass, which affects the control of the height and strength of the flame, which leads to a significantly longer burning time of the paper eco lantern compared to the classic PVC lantern - 100 grams. fuel mass of a paper eco lantern burns for 40 - 50 hours, while the same amount of fuel mass burns for about 24 hours with a classic lantern.

The basic essence of this invention is that an environmentally friendly product has been created by replacing the lantern container, which was plastic until now, with a paper container. Furthermore, this paper is treated with ecological means without plastic lamination, water-based printing inks are used and the core of the wick is made of paper. The product has still kept its shape and as such is still acceptable to buyers of traditional products, the shape of the product imitates a classic candle, it has a cylindrical "pillar" shape, and the paper lantern lets the light of the flame through thanks to the thin wall of the paper, so that the transparency is as good as possible. Furthermore, the appearance of the product has been improved and communication with customers has been improved, as color printing and unlimited possibilities of motifs and messages are enabled, and the paper mantles are treated with a water-based varnish on the outside by a special process, which gives the impression of a high gloss.

The product packaging is suitable for transport because the cylindrical shape of the product allows it to fit well in the transport package and is resistant to damage during transport, while the metal ring (oring) on the top additionally secures the lantern.

Stable burning is ensured without compromising the walls so that the flame is sufficient to melt the fuel mass and not damage the paper. The wick is ideally centered so that the flame burns in the middle at the same distance from the walls, so that the temperature load is evenly distributed. The wick itself does not roll during burning and does not come close to the wall (use of hard paper core).

Predmetni metalni prsten je posebno konstruiran kako bi spriječio prodor vjetra u unutrašnjost lampiona, ali i sa ciljem da osigurava pravilno pozicioniranje poklopca tijekom gorenja i omogućuje pravilni dotok zraka što je ključno za stabilno gorenje The wick has a foot that sticks to the bottom of the container to prevent the wick from "floating" out of the middle. A metal ring (oring) is placed on the upper edge, which secures the paper during burning and ensures that the lid does not fall over the edge of the paper. The metal ring in question is specially designed to prevent the penetration of wind into the interior of the lantern, but also with the aim of ensuring the correct positioning of the cover during burning and allowing a proper flow of air, which is essential for stable burning.

The cemetery lantern exhibited here is protected from the weather because paper varnished with a special water-based varnish is used, which makes it waterproof as well as resistant to rain and moisture and at the same time gives it a high gloss.

Paraffin fuel mass was replaced by fuel mass from renewable raw materials, using alcohol from vegetable fats as a raw material.

The paper ecological lantern exhibited here represents a radical innovation on the market due to its innovative production method and ecological nature, which greatly contributes to ecology and sustainable development, but also due to the unlimited possibilities of personalization. The possibility of communication with the customer is much greater due to the possibility of printing, which is not possible with classic lantern production techniques. Personalized messages and the visual appearance of eco paper lanterns, as well as messages specific to certain regions or cities, are a big innovation in the world of grave lanterns. Since the shape is the same, and it is communicated via text or image, it is possible to have countless combinations and even in the same transport box.

The ecological sustainability of the production of ecological paper lanterns is reflected in almost everything. Namely, paper is used to make the mantle of the lantern, which does not have a harmful effect on the environment and is degradable. The wick core is also made of paper (instead of lead). Fats of vegetable origin are used as fuel (more than 60% of the fuel mass), which reduces the use of petrochemically produced paraffin and fossil fuels and CO2 emissions required for its production. The water resistance of the lantern is achieved by applying a water-based varnish that does not have a harmful effect on the environment. The colors used for the visual of the paper eco-lantern are also water-based and do not have a harmful effect on the environment.

In the production of paper eco-lanterns for cemeteries, paper is used as the primary material for making the mantle of the lantern, which is consumed much less compared to the required amount of plastic from which the classic PVC lantern is made. The specific mass of the paper envelope of this ecological lantern is 300 gr/m2, while the specific mass of the plastic lantern is 1400 gr/m2. Thus, the consumption of primary raw materials is four times less for the same amount of product.

Waste reduction is also an important parameter. During production, there is always a small number of products that are not perfect and are not put on sale as such. In the paper lantern production technology, after filling the fuel mass into the paper lantern mantle, it can be reused because the paper (lantern mantle) is easily separated from the fuel mass, so such fuel mass can be reused in the production process, and the unused paper is recycled. This is not possible with the classic PVC lantern, because it is very difficult to separate the plastic from the paraffin and certain amounts of waste are generated. It is evident from this that the production of paper ecological lanterns leads to a significant reduction in production waste.

Using a paper ecological lantern instead of a classic PVC lantern will significantly reduce the amount of plastic waste, which almost does not decompose in nature (decomposition of the plastic from which plastic lanterns are made takes about 500 years). The waste generated by the use of paper eco lanterns is significantly smaller than the waste generated by the use of plastic PVC lanterns, because the specific mass of the paper envelope of a paper lantern is 300 gr/m2, while the specific mass of the envelope of a plastic lantern is 1400 gr/m2. Therefore, the amount of waste is four times smaller for the same amount of product, and it is also less harmful to the environment and decomposes faster.

The innovative production process results in a lantern that has a declared burning time longer than a lantern produced using classic techniques. The cylindrical shape of the paper eco-lantern is a very favorable ratio of surface area and volume, and in combination with the innovative process of lantern gravimetry (developed by the applicant) which affects the constant density of the fuel mass and the size of the flame, enables much better burning properties with a much smaller shell of the container.

The production of paper ecological lanterns is carried out on a production line that has an energy consumption of 3 kW/h, while blowing (PVC classic lanterns) requires energy of 20 kW/h and daily production (PVC lanterns) is 4 times less. Therefore, the energy consumption per unit of produced paper ecological lantern is about 20 times lower than per unit of produced plastic lantern.

During the production of paper eco-lanterns, melted vegetable fats and paraffin are used in the production process of fuel mass production, and a subcooled mixture of fuel mass is obtained by special mixing procedures, which is then poured into the paper lantern container. This innovative process reduces environmental pollution, as there is no waste water that is normally produced during the production process of a classic PVC lantern, where the paraffin must be cooled using cold water from the refrigerator. In this way, not only water is saved, but also a huge amount of energy, which is required for the operation of the refrigerator for cooling the tools for making PVC containers and for melting PVC.

Detaljan opis najmanje jednog od načina ostvarivanja izuma A detailed description of at least one way of realizing the invention

The first step in the production of this ecological lantern is the making of a paper container, which actually forms the mantle and the bottom of the lantern. The paper is cut to the required size and the side that will be the outside is sprayed with water-resistant and water-repellent varnish, which protects it from moisture. After drying, the paper on the side that will form the inner side of the lantern mantle is coated with fire-resistant varnish, thus making the paper fire-resistant up to a temperature of 170 0C. The bottom is made of paper with a double-sided biodegradable welding layer.

An expanded metal ring with a slight taper is placed on the top of the lantern so that it can be easily, quickly and effortlessly mounted on paper containers. In one embodiment, the metal ring has a width of 10 mm and its entire width penetrates the depth of the paper container, thus taking on a large part of the heat load from the lid and the heat does not go to the narrow band of the top of the paper container. The lid of the lantern and the relevant metal ring on the top of the lantern are made of metal that withstands heat well, and in order to achieve the greatest possible heat loss, the lid is specially designed with the upper surface just above the holes, which allows the air flow to carry away the heat by convection.

The metal ring is shaped so that it expands in a horizontal direction, which breaks the gusts of stronger wind currents. In practice, the current flow is such that it bounces off the wall and goes towards the bottom of the lantern, however, the aforementioned expansion of the metal ring in the horizontal direction breaks the wind flow and reduces the speed and strength of the wind flow, and the flame is not extinguished.

The paper wick is specially developed and has no lead thread in the middle. The process of making the wick is innovative: the middle of the wick is made of a different paper and is rolled in the opposite direction from the wall of the wick. Thus, opposite forces and bending tendencies are obtained, which cancel each other out and keep the wick straight.

Navedeni inovacijski postupak dovodi do dobre kompaktnosti i stabilnosti papirnatog eko lampiona. A mixture of liquid paraffin and alcohol from vegetable fats (more than 60% share) is used as the mass fuel in the paper lantern. The above-mentioned mixture is mixed by a special process, and during the mixing process itself, the density of the fuel material is changed by the innovative lantern gravimetry method, thus reducing the energy required for uniform melting of the entire section of the lantern and preventing the fuel mass from remaining on the paper wall. This results in a smaller flame, and at the same time significantly better utilization of burning fuel. Gravimetry for paper lanterns is an innovative process, developed by the applicant, which measures the mixture through a series of automated procedures and ensures a constant density of the fuel mass and burning conditions that are necessary for stable burning. In addition to the gravimetry procedure, the applicant also developed an innovative procedure for pouring the paper lantern so that the fuel mass inside the lantern is compact and stable. Pouring a liquid mixture of fuel mass could damage the wall of the paper container due to the high temperature of the mass, and due to the properties of the mixture shrinking during cooling, the mixture would separate from the paper container and reduce its stability. The mixture is therefore subcooled by special innovative procedures, which causes less shrinkage of the mixture (thermal expansion is equal to zero). The aforementioned innovation procedure leads to good compactness and stability of the paper eco-lantern.

The process of positioning the wick in the container is also innovative. First, ecological glue is applied to the bottom of the lantern, exactly in the middle of the container at the position of the wick, exactly in the middle of the lantern, then a mixture of fuel mass is poured into the paper container and only then is the wick positioned by inserting it through the mixture. This process ensures the positioning of the wick in the center of the lantern and preventing its separation from the center during burning, but also the impossibility of the flame approaching the walls of the lantern.
