Abstract

Η εφεύρεση αναφέρεται σε μέθοδο προστασίας της στεγανωτικής φλάντζας που βρίσκεται στη σύνδεση της κυλινδροκεφαλής με το μπλοκ κυλίνδρων μιας εμβολοφόρου παλινδρομικής ΜΕΚ και, κατά προτίμηση, μιας ΜΕΚ της οποίας ο θάλαμος καύσης καταπονείται με υψηλά θερμικά φορτία. Ένα φράγμα (5) που έχει τη μορφή ενός περιφερειακού δακτυλίου ή δίσκου προσαρμόζεται επί της κεφαλής (3) έτσι ώστε, καλύπτοντας τη«ραφή» μεταξύ κυλίνδρου (2) και κεφαλής (3) να «σκιάζει μεγαλύτερο την φλάντζα (6) από τα υψηλής πίεσης και θερμοκρασίας καυσαέρια του θαλάμου καύσης (30) που παράγονται μετά την έναυση του καυσίμου και για όσο χρόνο, ακόμα, το έμβολο είναι ακόμα κοντά στο ΑΝΣ. Με τον τρόπο αυτό, η ελεγχόμενη πρόσβαση των αερίων προς την «ραφή» και την φλάντζα θα συμβεί σε μεταγενέστερο χρόνο, αφού πρώτα το έμβολο θα έχει κατέβει στον κύλινδρο και θα έχει πλέον παρέλθει η «κορυφή» πίεσης και θερμοκρασίας στο εσωτερικό του θαλάμου καύσης. Επιπρόσθετα, η διατομή του φράγματος (5), σε συνδυασμό με αντίστοιχη διαμόρφωση της κορόνας του εμβόλου (1) προσφέρει τη δυνατότητα σημαντικής αύξησης των ζωνών σάρωσης (7) σε σύγκριση με τις συνήθεις εφαρμογές της τεχνικής στάθμης. Προτείνεται διάταξη ψύξης του φράγματος(5) μέσω αγωγού ψυκτικού ρευστού που σχηματίζεται μεταξύ ψυκτικής αύλακας (510) της επιφάνειας του φράγματος (5) και της επιφάνειας της κυλινδροκεφαλής (3) ενώ, σε μία πλέον σύνθετη εφαρμογή, το φράγμα είναι κοίλο έτσι ώστε, στο εσωτερικό του να πραγματοποιείται ατμοποίηση ρευστών και, σε ειδική περίπτωση, ο μοριακός μετασχηματισμός τους.
