Abstract

Μείγματα στερεών αποβλήτων υποβάλλονται σε επεξεργασία για την παραγωγή υψηλής και σταθερής ποιότητας, βιώσιμων τεχνητών αδρανών για τη χρήση τους ως δομικά υλικά σε μεγάλο αριθμό εφαρμογών στις κατασκευές. Η ιπτάμενη τέφρα (PFA) και η ιλύς από βιολογικό καθαρισμό λυμάτων αναμειγνύονται, αλέθονται, σφαιροποιούνται και συμπυκνώνονται σε ένα εύρος θερμοκρασιών για να παράγουν αδρανή ποικίλων ιδιοτήτων για τις διαφορετικές εφαρμογές. Η επεξεργασία αποβλήτων καύσης και στερεών αποβλήτων από εγκαταστάσεις καθαρισμού λυμάτων για την παραγωγή τεχνητών αδρανών για χρήση στις κατασκευές είναι μία από τις ελκυστικότερες εφαρμογές, επειδή συμβάλλει σημαντικά προς την επίλυση των προβλημάτων που συνδέονται με τη διάθεση αυτών των αποβλήτων, και μειώνει συγχρόνως την εξάρτηση σε φυσικούς μη ανανεώσιμους πόρους.
