Abstract
The invention relates to a method and equipment for treating wastewater produced at a typical factory producing latex paints, with the result that the repeated recycling of the water -after physicochemical treatment only- is feasible.The excess water volume that cannot be recycled is subjected to additional (secondary) treatment in an evaporator unit and is discarded.The dosage of the chemical additives guarantees the establishment of the suitable pH during treatment and of neutral pH in the treated water to be reused, without the need for intermediate adjustment.The installations for physicochemical treatment are characterized by the use of a single pump for pumping the wastewater, treated water and sludge through a pipe network with remote operated valves, agitation with forced air anda bed for additional sludge dewatering with exploitation of forced air flow.The invention is mainly applied in industries producing latex paints and in any other case of wastewater having a significantload of pollutants, which must be subjected to secondary treatment with methods requiring a significant installation and/or operation cost.
