Abstract

A lock is described and co-operating facing part suitable for series of sliding door and window leaves, with the lock built into the sliding leaf profile and the cooperating part attached to a vertically extending protruding stem of the profile of the frame which penetrates during the locking process into the profile of the sliding leaf. In the invention, both the external and the internal grab of the lock contains a single-sided attachment blade extension, so that its attachment is effected by tighening screws in the central highly rigid region of the sliding leaf profile and in order to minimise problems related to deformation of the sliding leaf profile due to bending tensions exerted during the attachment of locks of this type of the conventional technology. The lock and co-operating facing part offer as a single or double hooking type and use a hooking technique based on incisions of the shape of a square angle in the locking tongue of the lock and the facing part, ensuring that the same lock can be used, with a different hooking length with profiles of different widths. By making the lock symmetrical relative to an axis perpendicular at the centre of its longitudinal dimension, the use of the same lock with leaves that slide either to the left or to the right is achived by simply inverting it. The locking tongues of the lock feature obliquely cut frontal glider surfaces that in the case of collision drive the smoothed, controled sliding backwards without the risk of breakage of the tongues and/or the facing part.
